Hi Jana woke up with a bit of a cough and a sore throat yesterday, and so we had a day at home in bed, to nip it in the bud! I was continuing to do some clearing out of 'stuff'. It seems to be taking longer than I would have thought, and I'm noticing that is OK with me. In the afternoon I joined Jana in bed and we read stories, cuddled and listened to music. This morning Jana felt much better - it was so great to take the time off to help her. It made me realise how we can so easily 'battle on' thinking we are being tough and honourable, which does us no favours at all. Following our natural signals to rest is so important, and can only benefit us, our loved ones and the world in the long run. Wishing you all much wellness and happiness love, Shoes x

Joy

Hello:) I have this joy in my heart to make health giving food for people and give it away - just for fun and love. It has come to me recently that what I want to do with any profits from thehappyG is to live a simple life and use the majority to support this dream and joy in me. I am also drawn to supporting creativity in children, in any way(s) I can, eg. creating foods, writing, dancing, singing, drawing, beading, knitting etc. It is not yet clear how things may pan out exactly and I am now committed to following my joy. Will you support me? This could be through making a purchase through the site, signing up for membership extra or featured membership, giving moral support, sharing advice or ideas, or anything else:) Thankyou for reading - it feels great to share this. much love Shona x
Hi Jana and I had fun making a chocolate shoe, and here it is:)
We used a delicious raw peppermint chocolate made by our friend Claire at www.leapfrogfoods.co.uk. We simply melted the chocolate very gently and brushed it into the mould with a pastry brush and clean, new paintbrush, and popped it into the fridge to set:0) Jana is having lots of fun eating it too! Have a great day love Shona and Jana x
Hello again:) Have had a lovely quiet weekend. Jana's ballet exam was fun for her. The results will be back for 6-8 weeks, and the fact she had fun is the main thing. I have a real hankering just now to have a big clear out! It feels great to box/bag up stuff that I've not really used for ages and give it away for someone else to use/enjoy. I am really allowing myself to acknowledge how happy I am when there is simplicity in life. I am also very grateful just now for using The Work of Byron Katie in my life. When the school finished we made a list of people to contact every day, to support each other with doing The Work. I feel so grateful for these people as they are really helping me to discover things about myself - things I have believed for years without questioning. I now have the opportunity to question thoughts and beliefs that feel stressful for me. This can be challenging and the support of fellow school participants is invaluable. Something that came to me at the School for the Work was a real wish to make food for others and give it away:) I would love to travel around and make ice cream and treats and give them away - just for fun and love. No idea how this might work just now and I'm noticing how the thought fills me with joy, so I'm going to sit with it and see what comes up. Any ideas or feedback will be gratefully received:)
I went to see a lovely patient of mine (a cat) this morning, which I alway enjoy. His equally lovely owner kindly gave me a chocolate mould in the shape of a shoe. Later Jana and I can try making a raw chocolate shoe. If it works we'll take a picture and post it! Hope you are having fun! with love Shoes x
Hello It feels a little strange to be writing this as I've never blogged before, and this is a new experience. To begin with I would like to explain why my username is Shoes - just in case anyone is wondering! When I was a baby my older sister (then a toddler) couldn't say Shona properly, so she called me Shoes, and it has stuck ever since.:) The last week has gone quickly since the launch party on Saturday 8th November. We had about 50 children and parents from Jana's school come to a fun ice cream party at the local village hall. Much fun was had by all and my parents were a great help both in the kitchen and with games. Many parents also stayed behind afterwards to help tidy up, which I was very touched and grateful for:) We had Velvet Honey Vanilla, Chocolacado and Autumn Berry Banana frozen treats, icluding 4 gelato cakes - a butterfly, rabbit, cat and Bugs Bunny! The Autumn Berry Banana sorbet went down particularly well, and so I will post the recipe this week as the kid's recipe of the week:) There was an issue about taking photos at the party for child protection purposes, and also the camera I had ordered weeks ago to take pictures with didn't arrive until Monday!, so we have limited pictures. However, Jana and I did take some once the camera had arrived, and here they are:
The rest of the week has been a hotchpotch of taking steps to let more people know about thehappyG (as we affectionately call it) and keeping up with domestic happenings. We have had some plumbing problems which have been quite comical, and Jana has a Ballet Grade2 exam this afternoon. Last night we had a bit of rehearsal in her bedroom which was fun! Also, I have just returned from something called the School for The Work of Byron Katie, which is a nine day school during which we learn to gently question our thoughts that bring us stress, to see if they are true for us or not. This was a powerful and humbling experience for me and I have returned with an impulse to simplify my life and give of myself as much as I possibly can - which is where my true heart lies. Exactly how this will come about is not clear yet, and I can wait! It was so good to touch base with what is really important to me - caring, friendship, peace, humanity and love; and to let myself value them. I have contacted a local volunteer group who have put me in touch with a help the aged centre looking for help in their kitchen - so watch this space! I'll sign off just now. Speak again soon. with love, Shoes x
